About Us

The Mangapurua is an increasingly popular deserted valley branching off the Whanganui River above Pipiriki. Access to the valley is either by river via the well renown "Bridge to Nowhere" or by track from the bottom of the Ruatiti valley out the back of Raetihi...

A objective of our society is to provide safe, dry and comfortable accommodation for all visitors in the valley. This has become a major project for our society. The site of Johnson's clearing is where we propose to build this. The difficulties as  you can imagine are numerous and some rather large.

Get Involved

We hold regular events such as working Bees and camps within the valley. We arrange entertaining funding evenings, regular meetings and we have a monthly newsletter. One  of the projects we have underway is to write and place information boards at various sites of previous homes.
